Apple Says iPhone 16 Series to Be Available in Indonesia From April 11
March 26, 2025
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Apple‘s iPhone 16 series will be available in Indonesia from April 11, it said on Wednesday, after Jakarta lifted a ban on its sale following the company’s more than $300 million investment plan.
The Southeast Asian country of about 280 million people banned iPhone 16 sales last year as the company failed to meet composition requirements for parts to be locally made.
As previously reported, the communications ministry said on Friday, March 14, 2025, that the government has issued telecommunications permits for five different models of Apple’s iPhone 16 series.
This permit issue came a week after the government issued local content certificates for 20 Apple products.
The five telecommunication certificates were for iPhone 16e, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The issuance of the permits follows last month’s announcement of more than US$300 million investments by Apple in the archipelago, including in plants making components for its products, and a research and development center.
