This is why it has been advised that we don\u2019t crank up the brightness of the display to the maximum. It is also why more companies are adopting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ubergizmo.com\/articles\/lcd-vs-oled-displays\/#oled\">OLED<\/a> tech because unlike <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ubergizmo.com\/articles\/lcd-vs-oled-displays\/#lcd\">LCD<\/a>, OLED has the potential to be more energy efficient as the individual pixels can be turned off when not in use (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ubergizmo.com\/2019\/10\/iphone-dark-mode-help-save-battery\/\">like in dark mode<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>However, we imagine that there is still probably a long way to go in improving overall battery life, and Apple might have an idea how. According to a report <a href=\"http:\/\/en.thelec.kr\/news\/articleView.html?idxno=570\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">from Korean publication The Elec<\/a>, they claim that Apple is apparently considering adopting the use of the low-power LTPO display technology into future iPhones.<\/p>\n<p>This is the display tech used in the Apple Watch Series 4 and Series 5, and it is also one of the reasons why the Series 5 is boasting the same battery life as the Series 4 despite it having an always-on display. Apple\u2019s description of the tech reads,<em> \u201cThe low temperature poly-silicon and oxide display features a reinvented pixel architecture that lets the screen refresh rate dip from 60Hz to a power-sipping 1Hz when the watch is inactive.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Whether or not this is true remains to be seen, but in the past, we have heard that Apple could be exploring different display options for future iPhones, one of which is the use of micro LEDs.
