That\u2019s according to Brazilian journalist\u00a0Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe<\/a>, who claims in a new\u00a0OX do Controle video<\/a>\u00a0that he received the information from five separate sources.<\/p>\n

According to the sources, they are also working on games targeting Q1 2025, to launch alongside the console itself, which has internally slipped out of a previous 2024 target.<\/p>\n

Eurogamer<\/a>\u00a0reports it\u2019s heard \u201csimilar whispers\u201d from industry sources this week, though has not been able to concretely substantiate them.<\/p>\n

Previously,\u00a0VGC reported<\/a>\u00a0that Nintendo was targeting a launch for its next console in late 2024, per development sources. This was later supported by other outlets.<\/p>\n

UPDATE

Eurogamer<\/a>\u00a0has now corroboated that the Switch 2 is set for a Q1 2025 release.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe\u00a0console\u2019s launch moving into early next year \u2013 but still within the coming financial year \u2013 is designed to ensure Switch 2\u2019s launch line-up features as many titles as possible, Eurogamer understands,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n

Bloomberg\u00a0<\/a>has now corroborated this news via its own sources.<\/p>\n

\u201cNintendo Co. is advising game publishers that its next-generation console will be delayed until the early months of 2025, according to people with knowledge of the matter,\u201d it said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNintendo has told some publishing executives not to expect the console until March 2025 at the earliest.\u201c<\/span><\/p>\n

A Nintendo spokesperson said the company has nothing to comment on.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Two development sources VGC spoke to on Friday indicated that they were working on Switch 2 games planned for release early next year but could not confirm if that meant a later-than-expected launch for the console itself.<\/p>\n

Although the company is yet to comment publicly, Nintendo\u2019s Switch successor was widely expected to launch this year.<\/p>\n

In its latest earnings meeting earlier this month, Nintendo\u00a0president\u00a0Shuntaro Furukawa<\/a>\u00a0again declined to comment on plans for its next-generation console<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The exec instead insisted that the current\u00a0Nintendo Switch<\/a>\u00a0iteration would be Nintendo\u2019s \u201cmain business\u201d heading into 2024. The company\u2019s plan for the next fiscal year will be shared at its next earnings briefing in May, he said.<\/p>\n

Nintendo\u2019s next fiscal year will run until April 2025, so could include a console launch even if it has been delayed into calendar 2025.<\/p>\n

Dr. Serkan Toto, CEO of Tokyo-based game industry consultancy Kantan Games, recently\u00a0predicted that the new Nintendo console could launch at $400<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 $100 higher than the Switch\u2019s launched price \u2013 and there\u2019s a chance its games could adopt the $70 pricing of many\u00a0PS5<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Xbox Series X\/S<\/a>\u00a0titles.<\/p>\n

According to the industry consultant, Nintendo\u2019s next console will again have portable functionality, as VGC reported last year.<\/p>\n
